Cartographer’s mark

Viajes y Turistas — *what I learned traveling slowly through Spain and Latin America for a year*.

I started traveling slowly a year ago because I was tired of trips that felt like checking boxes and curious whether traveling differently would actually deliver the things travel marketing promised. I committed to a year. I tracked where I went, what I spent, what changed in how I traveled and what I noticed.

This site is the field notes from that year. The places I now know personally. The specific neighborhoods, restaurants, and people that have changed how I think about travel. The financial reality of slow travel versus tourist travel. The things I got wrong. The things that worked better than I expected.
